I am interested in using LCR for a customers SBS 2008 server so that we have an additional backup (we have local and offsite backups as well) if we ever have to restore the Exchange DB. We have an internal docking station that has two drive - one we use for the daily backups (disks changed out weekly) and the other I'd like to use for LCR.
As I was explaining this to the owner, one question he had was is the data on the disk encrypted? Specifically, if he were ever to have a disgruntled employee, could they conceivably just pull the disk and have complete access to all our emails/database, etc. since the server room is not a locked locale?
So far in any of the sites I've seen nothing is ever mentioned about encryption.
Another question I have is when I've perused the various forums, and there seems to be some horror stories regarding logs, whether the LCR is working correctly. Am I safe to assume those are the exceptions and not the norms?
If this is a non-encrypted copy; is there a way to protect it?
