What model/ make of your laptop? It is recommended to buy always original charger of same manufacturer which your laptop made.

Your best bet is to look online. Check the retailers in your area or the global ones like Amazon and Ebay. Tech sites like Newegg and TigerDirect and CDW may also be worth checking out.  Key in your make and model to find one that will work. Depending on how old, you may not be able to find one. I have an old Verizon flip phone that I have been looking for the data transfer cord for with no luck.

You can also ask your nearby shop or authorized dealer of the same manufacturer, if you face trouble to buy it online. But it is better to go for original for your laptop's longer life.

"Cheapest" price will probably be a Chinese knock-off of the original adapter. However, failure rates are relatively high, so I almost always buy such products in pairs. That makes the odds pretty good that if the first one fails, the second is immediately available.

No way to know where the "cheapest" will be found on any given day. Run an internet search for the part number to see if any are cheap enough for you.

Just was thinking a bit more on this. You mentioned it's an old laptop. it might not be the charger but the battery. I have 2 old laptops that the batteries wont hold a charge. You can spend hours on line plugged in. Pull the cord and try and boot the computer and nothing happens. Plug it back in and it works fine.. You can get a descent battery replacement for about $45.00 US but I'll save my money. I only tend to use these 2 when they are plugged in.
