Marker interface in Java is an empty interface and is used to signal to compiler or JVM that the objects of the class implementing this interface must be treated in a special way, like serializing, cloning.

From java 1.5, the need for marker interface is eliminated by the introduction of the java annotation feature. It is better to use java annotations than marker interface. It has more feature & advantages than the java marker interface.
