iseries ftps connection to unix server

All, A client is using iSeries/AS400 to ftps to our unix server. About 60 minutes into the transission the client receives a "no response from remote host, closing connection". On our end, the client is idle for 15 minutes and times out, resulting in a closing of the connection to the client. I have other iSeries users who are not having this problem. I suggested changing the keepalive parm, but IBM has disregarded the suggestion. I have thousands of clients on this server, many of whom are iSeries/AS400 and not having the problem. Any suggestions?

can you tell from job logs why they are going idle?

perhaps, they need to redesign their processs to either prepare the data before opening the connection.

if they need to get something from you to know what to send, to open the connection, get your file, close connection, process, open connection, and send (then close connection)

i'm only getting a trace from ibm showing the data being written out to us, the a window size zero response going back and the connection is closing. i am literally receiving a six line screen shot (ftps ip address, cwd, passive mode, opening data connection, put, no response from remote host). i asked today for a batch job to run from jcl, and job output but waiting to here back. could it be the ISP?

you might need to check with your network people and make sure it isn't a firewall/router issue. Same with the ISP's systems.
