Just so you have an idea of what I'm asking or looking for as far as database needs , I'm working on a classified ads website gaining a lot of traffic. The database behind it is MySQL. However, my concern is if MYSQL is fit to handle high traffic websites. For example, would a website with 12 million visitors a day keep running well with MySQL as the database? In other words, can MySQL scale? I've worked with it along with PHP as the programming language but I'd like to make sure that it is the right solution for a big project projected to receive super high traffic. Your feedback and advise are the most welcome. Thank you!
