It’s quite risky. But rather than building data center under water, you can use the sea water for server cooling as Google is using… http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2010/09/15/google-using-sea-water-to-cool-finland-project/

Of course it's possible. Harder to guess whether it's feasible... technologically, economically, politically, environmentally, or any other sense.

Sure it's possible. But look at the operating costs and commute for workers and support staff? Would this be a long term shift? say 2-3 months at a time? Are we talking deep sea or something just off the coast? Off of the top of my head I can think of only one possible benefit. That would be it might have less of a chance of going down to natural disasters like wildfires, mudslide, tornadoes and others.

How did this idea caome in your mind! Just for an adventure! You are researching, this is good, but do you know the operating costs/ man power etc. Is it a real issue/ you just thought like that. More specific details require.

Forgot to mention the construction cost at the start will definitely push back any benefits or profits. The second would be finding staff willing to work in that environment. Any specific aspect you are most concerned with?

If authorities have trouble recovering remnants of ships and airplanes from the bottom of the ocean due to the high pressure, etc., I can't imagine being able to justify building a data center down there. That said, maybe someone with more money than sense can make it happen!

Anything is possible but it will require a huge budget which only some of the fortune 500 companies can manage. I think Google is already planning to put this into practice but the benefits are enormous.

Justin, I'd be curios on Googles plans and what benefits they see. Do you have the link to the story handy?
