Internet Browsing security

When I visit my son, I have access to the internet through his router, using my android phone or windows laptop. Sometimes I use it and sometimes not.
When I go home and go on my devices through my own internet router,  using Google Chrome, I get popup adverts from some of the things he has been searching using his own hardware.
This even happens at home where my wife and I share the same internet access router but occasionally she sees information about my searches or vice versa.
How can we stop this from happening?

Thanks for any help you can suggest.

Bill

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You can try using the Google Incognito mode.. This does cut down on what others can see and may cut down on the targeted advertising pop-ups.  In Chrome click on the 3 dots in the upper right, then click new incognito window.

You may configure Chrome History to avoid this situation. Next what is your problem if your wife and you see each other information. This can be build a healthy relation.

Is your wife agree with your idea?

Are you both using same Login user name/ password for internet browsing? Is your system login user same?

No we use unique hardware with unique user Id's and passwords. The only thing in common is we go through a common Router with one IP address.
This does not address why we see popups from searches done by my son at his home or that we have done from his home while visiting.
Very confusing and possibly alarming that this is a "GOOGLE" thing.
