There are a couple of ways that I know of to get around this.
One, you can create a login script that uses a ‘user name’ variable where the script tests for user and attaches them to required printers. I’m not well versed on scripting but you may find resources out there that can help.
I solved the problem of various user login requirments through a program called ScriptLogic (www.scriptlogic.com) which has the ability to apply MANY settings including drive mappings, network printer assignments and security settings based on user name, group belonged to, even ip addressing (subnet, etc…). You can even run applications, service packs, and more. (I know this sounds like a plug, perhaps it is, but being a non-profit, our resources are limited and any program that helps me to be in more places at once is a boon to the services I provide!
