QSECOFR
I have had multiple attempts to sign on to the system with QSECOFR, but the requests fail. I am trying to find out what process is trying to use the QSECOFR profile to sign onto the system. How do I view the information from the journal?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Have you tried look at the QHST Log to see if it’s an internal or external attempt? What time is this occurring?  It may be that the login is coded in a program.. (bad idea if it is) but I have seen it done. If this is a new and recent problem, does it always happen at the same time or is it random? If consistent check with programming staff for any new schedule changes that may be causing this.  Make sure you have a backup signon with the same authority. You do not want to get locked out if the QSECOFR profile. We did once and had to have IBM come in over a weekend and fix it for us at a good expense to get control back. Without QSECOFR we could not make any system changes.

Couple of things: Some systems are configured that QSECOFR can only sign on at the system console. Do you have the correct password for the profile? If you have made multiple attempts with this profile, have you disabled the profile?

    WRKSYSVAL QLMTSECOFR.
Also, later versions of the OS allow you to limit the time of day QSECOFR can sign on (to prevent out-of-hours hacking attempts). Can't remember the system value that controls this. :-(

Look into DSPAUDJRNE, specifically the Journal entry types parameter.
