Hi,
You can increase the size of Outlook attachments in windows 8.1 by using registry editor with the following steps:
  • Click on “Win+R” to open “Run” window.
  • Type “regedit” in the field provided on Run window.
  • Now click on Yes button to open registry editor.
  • After that locate this path HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\Preferences
  • After that double click on ‘MaximumAttachmentSize’. If it does not exist, then click on Edit button and select new button from the drop down menu to add the DWORD value.
  • Click on DWORD value.
  • Rename the value as ‘MaximumAttachmentSize’.
  • After that, double click on this Value.
  • Define attachment size limit in KBs.
  • Click on “OK”.
I hope this information will be helpful for you.

NOTE: Be careful while making changes with the Registry Value as any mistake could lead to malfunction of the entire machine.

Thanks & Regards
Clark Kent

It this on a home/personal system or in a work environment? At work we have a size limit of 5 meg. Anything over that has to go through IT for approval.

Hey Clark, I tried following the instructions, but when I get to 14.0 it only lists 12.0. Can't find 14.0. When I click on 12.0 I can't find Outlook listed. Sorry for my ignorance, but any help will be greatly appreciated. Mark :)

    Hi mlightcap,

This value depends upon the Outlook version. According to your comment you are using Outlook 2007. It is not possible that you did not find Outlook in the 12.0. Please cross verify all steps.
Follow this path in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Preferences

I  am sure this will work for you.

After doing this task please update the result.

    Thanks & Regards
    Clark Kent
