LINQ is an extension to the .NET framework which adds native data querying capabilities to .NET code. It is frequently used by developers to provide strongly typed queries using “Lambda” expressions. SharePoint 2010 includes LINQ support to insulate developers from having to understand the underlying data schema (CAML)
Got PowerShell? Windows PowerShell is now the preferred tool for managing SharePoint from the command line. If you’re new to PowerShell, and learning it for SharePoint, it’s actually *very* easy to learn. You’ll want to get up to speed– at least get comfortable with it–as there will be commands you need to enter in order to perform certain tasks (like granular restore). You don’t NECESSARILY need to learn to write your own scripts, but it certainly helps to do so.
