I have been working with SQL Server for many iterations and from the old days I remember the mantra “Do NOT do an in-place upgrade.” I'm about to upgrade from 2008 R2 DEV and TEST systems to SQL Server 2012 using the same hardware. I want to do it this way so that I don’t have to reconfigure my reporting services configuration as this is a time-sensitive project.
At this point are there still issues with performing in-place upgrades? If so, any idea how I could do this quickly and effectively?
