DirectAccess is a new feature in the Windows® 7 and Windows Server® 2008 R2 operating systems that gives users the experience of being seamlessly connected to their corporate network any time they have Internet access. With DirectAccess, users are able to access corporate resources (such as e-mail servers, shared folders, or intranet Web sites) following common security standards, anytime they have an internet connection. . DirectAccess requires Windows 7 Enterprise Edition or Windows 7 Ultimate Edition computers and a Windows Server 2008 R2 DirectAccess Server at the edge of your network. Forefront Unified Access Gateway 2010 (UAG) extends the benefits of DirectAccess across your infrastructure, enhancing scalability and simplifying deployments and ongoing management. You can extend Windows DirectAccess to legacy applications and resources (non-IPv6) running on existing infrastructure. UAG also provides enhanced scalability and ongoing administration for DirectAccess through built-in array management and integrated load balancing.
