This may seem simple but I feel like every version of Excel is getting worse with CSV files. I'm running Excel 2016 and I can't open a CSV file. I can't import the data at all. Can someone help please?

Are you getting any error messages? That seems very strange. Are you trying to open an existing CSV file already on the PC or importing the data from another platform. If you are importing the data, how is it being done?

I am using 2016 version and this is something I do almost routinely with no issues. Is your file associations set up to use Excel for .CSV files? or do you have another program for these? Even so, if you right click on the file and indicate "open with" and select Excel, it should work. Are these true .CSV files? (meaning that they may have a .csv extension but not actually contain formatted data). Is the delimeter actually a comma or something else?

Open Excel and click File menu, then click open and on next locate the file where it is. Also check if .CSV file is damaged somehow. Sometimes, problem may arise for different separators set in windows regional and language settings and the csv file. In this case, you may open the CSV file on any text editor and separate it either by comma separator/semicolon separator.
