I transfer a DB2-file from IBMi to my PC - into .txt format. My DB2file is in dispaly format (no packing) and has four fields. The resulting .txt-file has one character space as separator between each field. I don't want the separators - I'd like the .txt-file to be exactly as thd DB2-file. How, please.

Sounds strange. Try saving the transfer request and post it here so we can see the parameters being used for the transfer. What are the field sizes define on the DB2 side? Are they test, numeric or a combination and are they filled completely.

What product are you using? The question subject says IBMi Data transfer i For Business Emulator, but that doesn't really match any name that I've seen. Biscom has a product that they refer to as "Data Transfer for Business"; is that what you're using? Or is it a version of IBM's "IBM i Access"? If so, which version, and what platform are you running it on? Is it some other product?

IBMi Access - Data Transfer - version 1.1.7.2

    DB2-file - fields:

    ORGNRA:       813486652
    NRAVTA:          3074613
    ALLOWANCES:     28937

    DB2-file - record display:

    2017033100813486652000003074613000028937

    .txt-file after transfer:

    - spaces between every field.

Are you saving it as a delimited text file? I can't verify there are other options for saving as a flat text with no delimiters.

I'm saving it as a Text(.txt). NOT as a Tab Delimited Text(.txt). That's why I find this very strange.

I'm thinking the space may be coming from the data if it is a signed field. It needs the extra space if it's a negative number. The data may need to be redefined to eliminate the space.

Yes - you may be right.

In earlier versions of ClientAccess - there was a 'no conversion' option - and that fixed it - but I can't see that one in this version.

OK - I'll bend my neck and redefine the record.

    Thanks anyway...
