I was wondering if anyone else has been having trouble with IE9. A lot lately when I clicking tabs within a page i get an error message saying that IE has stopped working. If you choose "close the program" it does not close all of IE just the link I was going to and brings me back to the past page. Sometimes the only way to get where I want to go is to open it as a new tab (IE tab) or Window. Is this sometime on my computer or something with the new IE?
Software/Hardware used: Internet Explorer 9, Windows 7 Ultimate
Website compatibility may also be part of the mix. I have noticed recently that a number of websites seem to be thrown into compatiblity mode on IE8 that were accessed without trouble before ... and this freezes or seriously slows them. The solution for that was to go in to the compatibility view settings and uncheck the "include updated weblists from microsoft: box, along with removing the website you are trying to visit ... then restart IE. I've only done this twice on IE9, but the last couple weeks have done it a few dozen times on IE8 installations, so there may be something in a Microsoft list that was released.
I do have RoboForm add-on. That too has been acting a little funny. If I open a new tab and click on one of my passwords through Roboform it actually opens the page in the previous tab even though I have a fresh one active. I am going to look at that artical and see if there is anything I can figure out. Thanks all.
Yes, so what I did was uninstall IE9 then reinstalled it. After that I was still getting a few errors every once and awhile. I went into Internet Options to see what was really the difference between the IE's. On the first tab you see Tabs- Settings. I went in there and changed the "Let IE decide how to open tabs" to "Always Open in New Tab"<- My preference. I think the problem lays in IE not really knowing what to do with links and popups so I made the decision for it. Seems to have worked so far. I will let you know if I run into any further problems, and feel free to ask any follow ups. I did not do anything to my Add-Ons.
Had a problem with some personal software not uploading or downloading data from a Garmin tracking device. The resolution was use compatibility mode for the website until a software update wit a fix was available. I'm guessing the same could apply to a lot of problems after IE9 install.
i have been having trouble with Internet Explorer 9, too. i'm running Windows 7. i've had this machine since April of 2011 and never had a problem with I.E. 9 until recently.
