Ever since I upgraded Windows 10 on my desktop, the Start menu has been broken for me. It's not showing any of the icons for the apps. How can I fix this?

Somehow the icons are disappeared during updating or something like that. You can try to visible them. Just right click on the desktop, and select View Inside the this tab, check for the Show desktop icons at the bottom. In this case, it might be unmarked. Just mark on it as checked by clicking over & check either the icons are visible. Or you can open command prompt with admin rights, and run the command like, sfc/scannow and press enter key.

Moreover, as you mentioned for upgrading, just do a windows update (for Windows 10), if available, and it may helpful to overcome this issue. But make sure that, all updates will be done properly and there is/are no pending update(s).
