It all depends on the company you work for. It may vary depending on the level of security you have. It may be just running jobs and distributing reports to handling halts, setting up new users, setting up new devices, applying system updates like PTF’s… the list goes on.

    For what organization? What environment? E.g., what are the printing and backup schedules like? What is the surrounding staffing? E.g., are there one or more system programmer positions?

    The scale of organization complexities and sizes ranges from small office with perhaps three to six users well up into mainframe class with thousands of users. Operational responsibilities have practically no standard guidelines nowadays.

    A review of the Basic system operations topic in the Knowledge Center is perhaps the only useful guide in the absence of context.
