Have you taken backup before doing that? What is the make/ model of your device? Is this memory card too old/ new ? Please provide more details.

it might be possible the SD Card contained a virus. Tun a virus scan and see if it finds anything. Can you provide more details as to what type of computer and software you are using and where and size of the SD card that was purchased. If your pictures have additional colors and stuff, is it just random or a consistent pattern ?

If it's just distorted images, try other types of files. For example, try a few .TXT files. Also, create some .TXT files and change their extensions to match your corrupted image files; then copy them over.

Though some kind of virus has to be kept in mind, it doesn't sound like one. It sounds more like a problem with the SD card, perhaps losing bits here and there during copying. By trying enough (and possibly large enough) .TXT files, simple corruption might be detected.

If possible, insert the same memory card to another device & check either it behaves similar as earlier. If yes, ask to the vendor to change this one (if it is new).

What program are you using to view the images? You can always try another and see if you get the same results. Try Paintbrush, Irfanview, Gimp or try and inset the image into a document and see if it still has issues.

Moreover try to check/ scan/ clean viruses from your PC/ laptop if you inserted earlier. Keep in mind, there is no virus on mobile phone/ Tab. Because the built-in mechanism such a technology that no virus can affect Smartphone / Tab. So don't install any anti virus on your mobile phone. This is absolutely is not necessary.

My bet is you have some sort of malware on your device. There is a gray area between viruses in the traditional sense and it can spread from one device to another and do it's damage. Smartphones and tables, mostly Android, get hit with malware issues. This is from bad / unsecured apps we download. There are malware protection apps on Google Play and the Windows store. Apple i-Phones usually will only get hit with problem if the phone has been "Jailbreaked".  If you are viewing on a PC all bets are off as to how your problem happened. We need more detail like the other posters have requested to assist you further.
