Anyone knows why I get an error message when trying to use the ''Add-VMRemoteFx3dVideoAdapter'' command? The message says that Hyper-V can't find the S3 controller.

Software/Hardware used:
Hyper V; Remote FX; HP Proliant; NVIDIA GPU (Quatro M2000)

What environment is there? Is it mixed environment/standalone system? Is this your office/for personal use? Probably office, Are you the admin person? Please link here for a good concept from Microsoft: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/hyper-v/add-vmremotefx3dvideoadapter?view=win10-ps

Thanks for the answer Subhendu Sen. Our environnement is a Standalone Hyper V server, with VDI/RDP service. Running on Windows Server 2012 R2, with about 40 VMs experiencing performance problems (mostly display issues, Ex: video are lagging). It is an office setup, and yes I am the admin. The link you posted is the same link, where I found the command "Add-RemoteFX3dVideoAdapter". Which give me the error message regarding the S3 controller. Any idea why I get this error? Or at least what is the S3 controller? (Even Google apparently never eared about it!)

Don't know how did you run this command, it is recommended, (as you mentioned, graphics issue) isntall Remote Desktop Session Host Role on the Hyper V host by using this one,

    Add-WindowsFeature -Name RDS-RD-Server -IncludeAllSubFeature

Next, run the command as you tried. Keep in mind whne adding/ installing vm remote video adapter, mention the parameter as, -VMName <yourvm>

Also keep in mind, Remote Desktop Virtualization Host Role service must be installed to enable RemoteFX vGPU (if any).

For reference S3 controller for Synthetic 3D Display Controller.

For video/ graphics driver etc, processor in the RemoteFX server must support SLAT. In virtualization scenarios, hardware based SLAT support improves performance. On Intel processors, these are known as Extended Page Tables (EPT), and on AMD processors, they are called Nested Page Tables (NPT).

Providing here a good article from Microsoft TechNet, https://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/16652.remotefx-vgpu-setup-and-configuration-guide-for-windows-server-2012.aspx

This is helpful, read it minutely and you can get help.
