Various Google searches for "php tutorial" combined with other possible words will give you a number of choices you can pick from. You can decide if any fit whatever you mean by 'simple'.

I've used the www.w3schools.com site myself when looking into a new language. It is an interactive site and you get to play with actual code.

Best way to learn any form of computer language, sit down, open the book, and start typing.  Do the labs in the book/courseware, and learn from your mistakes.

Since this is a rather lengthy answer, your best bet is to go purchase Intro to PHP and start reading.

Simple question to answer, but I would rather ask the question of WHY are you asking?

DO you have an issue where someone told you that PHP was the best or only answer?  If that is the case, I would like to know what the issue is and then give a relevant answer to that question.

What made you choose PHP as a programming language when there are many others. If it's a job requirement, you most likely will find the position is no longer available by the time you learn the language, or any language. They all take a lot of time to learn and most jobs are looking for a quick placement of a new employee.
