So I have to replace my father's hard drive. He's not sure what version of Windows and Office he has. I connected to the hard drive and see all of the files (but I can't find the Windows information anywhere). Is there a way to find this information? Thank you!

Ok, If the system will start up there is usually a screen that will say what version of Windows it is running. If you are not sure then type system in the search box and go to control panel for example and this will tell you what specific version you are running. You can also key Outlook or Excel into the search box. If it is on your system it will display a shortcut showing the Office version. ex. Outlook 2010.

To find out OS information of the system, that is running, press Windows logo key + R, and type as, winver then select OK. A box appears, where you can see information of your current system.

For MS Office - select File or the Office button like Help. Now search for 'What version of Microsoft Office am I using?'. after that it shows information with pictures. Here is great help from Microsoft: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/about-office-what-version-of-office-am-i-using-932788b8-a3ce-44bf-bb09-e334518b8b19

Moreover, you can use third party tools for the same purpose, while mostly of them are free to use. These tools can help to gather all necessary information easily. Keep in mind, please take all necessary backups of personal files etc. If you keep this HDD with you, then it is fine, else erase all data/format the HDD before handover it.
