My department is working on a large scale project and I was given the task of going through a 650 page PDF file and extracting the images. The majority of them are charts and tables but when I just try to copy and paste, all of the images lose their resolution and the text with them becomes blurry. What's the best way to extract images from a PDF file?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

You might try a screenshot of each of them. That will maintain resolution. If you had access to the original document, that would be the ideal scenario.

I agree with Kevin. If you are on Win10 you can use the snipping tool. This may be the best bet as you do not know how the images are being inserted into the PDF. They may come from links or other sources. It may take time but you will be able to save them with the best quality.

Also if you have the full version of Acrobat, open the file then select
ADVANCED > DOCUMENT PROCESSING > EXPORT ALL IMAGES and send to the desired folder... You may still have to play with it a bit as not everything may be one of the select image formats..

Hardest will be PDFs that have each page as an image. Some organizations distribute PDFs that way, and there is no "extraction" possible other than a screen-shot variant.

Yes, Windows Snipping tool is a better way to take snapshot and then make them use as your desire. This is here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/4027213/windows-10-open-snipping-tool-and-take-a-screenshot

Or for accurate result, you can consider a third party tool to do the job.
