Hello - this is more of a tool question than an actual IT question. I need someway to extract specific highlighted text / images from a PDF file. What's the easiest way to do that? Is there a tool provided by Adobe?

The full version Adobe Acrobat should do it. You are limited if you are using the free Acrobat Reader version. In a lot of cases you can still highlight and cut / paste items from a PDF depending on it’s document security. Then there is a snipping too in Win10 as well as other tools like Irfanview or you can use a PDF converter to convert it to a Word doc.

Yes, full version of Adobe Acrobat is required. Simple Adobe Reader can not do it. If this is expensive for you, you can try this free tool: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfhex/

Probably JRE (Java Runtime Environment, which is also free) is required to run this tool.

Moreover, for this purpose, you can try OCR software. Almost all are expensive, but for test purpose, you can download/install a free utility called FreeOCR, which may be helpful.
