There are several user profiles created in our AS/400 server. I need to control some of specific set of user profiles from updating database. Is there any option to achieve this request? Example: Consider Profile1 and Profile2 created in AS/400 server. Profile1 should not have access to update the database but profile2 should have access to update the database.

Use the GRTOBJAUT on the USRPRF to *EXCLUDE for the objects they should not have access too.

Looks simple enough to be done with Object security. Also consider securing the data base file with an authorisation list. Once on the list authorities can be set without the need to have an exclusive lock on the file.

Either object or group policy authority should do what you need. Do you have admin authority to set these up?
