If your file is full, when it is not being used, you can increase the file size with the CHGPF command. There you can increase the max number of records, increment size of records to add. When “file full” error message is received it uses these parameters. As for the access path, if this is a PF and has keys changing the access path is a little bit of work. The 2 issues you mention are independent of each other. LF on the other hand do not contain data, only the access keys for the proper file sequence. These files will never become full as they are based on the PF size parameters.

    Could you describe what you need to do and why.

    It's hard to imagine a file being "full" or why you want to change the access path.

    It is possible to hit the limit on a logical file's access path size. 

    It that has happened you'll need to use the CHGLF command to increase the access path size (ACCPTHSIZ).
