Can someone guide me how to become a ITIL professional? Currently I'm searching for a job as System Administrator. Most of the companies are asking for ITIL knowledge.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Yeah, It is compulsary to have the proper knowledge of ITIL to become a ITIL professional. There is also the gateway exam to achieve ITIL Expert Level. ITIL ExpertLevel requires the candidate to have accumulated 22 credits that have been gained by passing the ITIL Foundation, Intermediate Level and MALC exams.

ITIL knowledge is certainly in demand. Many training companies provide ITIL training. Here's a good starting point on ITIL essentials:

A quick web search using "ITIL certification" will return a lot of good information. Best of luck!

Thank you for the reply. Is this necessary for an Administrator profile. I have seen many job profile where they have included the ITIL for system administrator.

As you asked for itil for sys admin, there is no hard fast rule or it is not necessary, but recommended for a good carrier or for a high pay. For sys admin it is necessary to know these like incident management; problem management; change management, in which incident management is most necessary as it handles day to day issues like hard disk problem/ system restore or many more critical tasks.

For a system admin it is not required, but it is worthy to know the techniques on early stage which may give you an advantage for any opening opportunity in the future. But as others said that you need to practice it and try to match it with reality and see how it goes.

I am an ITIL certified and I noticed at the workplace it is required for higher positions than the system admin. It is for more managerial positions like team lead, head of IT support or head of IT operation team or even the CIO. It is better to know it on an early stage to familiar and aware of all the applied techniques.

Also, can someone tell me, is there any website or blog which has a  task to do in server. Like an article or book. So that we can test our brain, and can practice ourselves.
