If the Duration field is set by subsequent AMPDU transactions how will they be able to provide the collision resistance that RTS CTS could provide?

This seems more of a research question rather than a technical problem we can help solve. Google searches can lead you to sites that may help you see relationships. For example, you might review MAC Changes in 802.11e & 802.11n for Improving Throughput. RTS/CTS still provide collision resistance.
