An answer depends on (1) why the (under?)lines disappeared and (2) what emulator is being used.

The (under?)lines exist because they reflect the default display attributes of an input-capable field. But defaults can be overridden. If they disappeared for a reason such as an override or some similar cause, then the answer is to undo that cause. You'll need to look at the source of the current signon panel to see what attributes are being set.

And the emulator might or might not respect (under?)line display attributes. The basic Windows telnet client, for example, ignores them. Other clients may do the same. The answer there would be to use an appropriate client or to undo whatever configuration change caused the client to behave this way. That latter may include backing out a recent fix pack or reporting the problem to a vendor.

I suppose that a third category of such problems would involve hardware trouble for direct-attach terminals. If a terminal is used, the answer is probably to replace. It might also be that a terminal's configuration could be involved, but I don't recall seeing that.

Is this a global issue, meaning no logins on any device has them or it specific to one terminal? If it's one terminal let us know what emulator and version. Example Client Access ver 6.0

If it's client access, have you made any custom modifications to the display such as changing colors, ruler or anything else.

I have encountered issues with this when changing the font type on the emulator.

Are you using the default sign-in screen, or a modified one? If this is a modified screen, check the display characteristics of the input fields. I have encountered sometimes where this was changed.

As mentioned by others, some emulators don't display the lines. If the emulator had a recent update or a change of emulator could cause this.

We can make lots of suggestions about potential causes, but without knowing the cause, any fix suggestions are a shot in the dark.
