how do I get back a lost main menu in outlook

Microsoft Exchange
A remote user of mine has some how lost the main menu bar in Outlook 2003(file, edit, tools etc) on a WinXP SP2 Dell box. I have taken the user through the "customise toolbars" and not only is the main toolbar ticked (visible), but it cannot be unticked. We have also tried the reset button in the customise toolbars menu to no avail. The user states that there are no black double chevrons to indicate the bar is squashed off the screen or into another tool bar. The user needs to get to the tools option to change an e-mail account setting and I cannot figure out how to do this without the toolbar (I also cannot figure out how to get the toolbar back). It doesnt help that the user is office 2003 and I have office 2000... Help!

Might be this will help you …try this.
If I get you correctly then you have lost the MENU BAR in the Outlook 2003.
So go to Outlook 2003 -> tools -> customise -> Choose commands tab -> then choose “MENU BAR” it should give you all the..file,edit, view etc.

Thank you.

I'm guessing that the main menu bar is somewhere on the screen and it's being over looked. ALT-T followed by the letter A will bring up the account editing screen. ALT-T, followed by O will get you the options screen. Also, I'd recommend getting something like TightVNC installed on remote user PC's to be able to remotely view their desktop. We've found it to be a lifesaver.

Do you have any toolbars showing at all? If so, right click on one of them and choose customize. Click on the Toolbars Tab and see if Menu Bar is one of the options. See if you can turn it on that way. Don't know how it was lost. Once the Menu bar is turned on, usually you cannot turn it off.

Hi Again all, Yes, there are toolbars showing, but not the main one (that has the "tools" button in it) and when the "right click and customise toolbar" is tried, the popuot menu shows the main toolbar as visible, so that doesnt work either. I am going to get the user to try ciscorangers suggestion of using the keyboard shortcuts to get to the e-mail account settings. I would like to figure out what is going on with the main toolbar and resurect it though. Anyway, thanks for the help longshanks
