Alright - this is a pretty simple question but I'm not the best when it comes to computers. Usually, I put my laptop to sleep whenever I'm not using it. However, sometimes I accidentally bump my computer mouse or keyboard and it turns it back on. How can I prevent that from happening?

It can vary a bit. What OS version are you running? It might be located under the power management options or system security.

It is better to figure out why this system is waking up before you want it. For this purpose, open command prompt and type as, powercfg -lastwake & press Enter key. It shows the count no as well as the name of hardware that wakes the system. After getting the name open Device Manager. Locate the hardware (for example say Mouse/keyboard) so, double click to open its Properties. Now click/tap on the Power Management tab. Next uncheck the box next to 'Allow this device to wake my computer'. Next click OK. Close all dialog boxes. Reboot to take effect (if asks).

If you have the option, have you tried HIBERNATE instead of sleep?
