I have taken over a position that the previous guy retired. The company uses AS/400 for the inventory system, but is in the process of converting to SAGE. The issue is the inventory that is in AS/400 is still being used while in operation. Is there a way to move the inventory to SAGE without having to do it manually?

I am not familiar with the SAGE product, but I am familiar with the situation you are in.

I have a system up in Canada that passes any changes to the Item Master table to me every day. Changes are FTP to me every day in a .csv file. I move that the a table on the AS400 and have a program that reads it up updates our Master Table are working on an application where I need to send changes (included inventory) do to tables that are running SQL LITE. To capture the changes, I wrote a trigger program the puts all the changes in a table. Unlike just doing journaling, I have the before and after data in the same record. I then pass the data written to the log file and using PHP, or a product call RDBConnect, or SQL, I pass the data down to the target devices.

    Going the other way,

"Going the other way" is in the wrong place in my response.

Also what DB does SAGE use?

The bottom line answer to your question is YES, you can setup something to automatically move your inventory to another system.

The questions are: What is the volume, and For what period of time do you need to do this? This will assist you in the ROI decision as to whether or not to automate. For some pieces of some process, we have chosen to do double entry.
