tv wifi issue
the main tv in our house is not a smart tv and about 5+years old.  we watch Netflix through the dvd player but the streaming is really bad and constantly stops and says its unavailable.  the other tvs in the house which are smart tvs do not have this problem.  is this the wifi issue or need to get a smart tv?

You will probably be better off getting a new smart tv.

If the other devices connected to the same network don't have the same problem, then it is most likely not the network, but the device (in this case the DVD player), which is causing the issue.

It could be a number of things, If the DVD player is old, it may need a firmware update. You can check the manufactures site for steps on how to do this. If it has always been an issue on this particular tv, then is may be a weak or spotty wi-fi signal. You could try and move the wi-fi router to be closer to the DVD player location or look into a wi-fi range extender / booster to cover a larger area of you home. What brand and model DVD player do you own?
