Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

For some information you can do a WRKOUTQ to an OUTFILE and get things like job, user, job number, spool number.. For the contents you need to do a CPYSPLF to another file and parse the data. The spool file is just a flat record format you need to parse as it will almost always be different from job to job. You might be able to create custom template files to copy the spool data into.

It kind of depends on exactly what "certain kind of information" means. Are you always getting info about a specifically known spooled file? Or do you want info about a set of spooled files such as the list of spooled files owned by a user or siting on an *OUTQ?

If you do WRKSPLF OUTPUT(*PRINT), will that get you the type of information that you are looking for?

For example i wanna get the spoolfile size (width & lenth) in spoolfile attribute. How to retrieve it in rpgle. I need to choose specific spoolfile so that it will give me the right spoolfile information to display on screen.

You may want to look at the Retrieve Spooled File Attributes (QUSRSPLA) API returns specific information about a spooled file into a receiver variable. The size of the receiver variable determines the amount of information returned

You might also look at API QGYLOLSPL.

If your system has TAATOOL check out RTVSPLFA.  For years many systems shipped with this library of handy utilities.
