Running Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010 and since the beginning of September my Global Address List is not updating when in Cached Mode. When switched to no-cached mode it is up-to-date. I tried the "download address book" under send/receive, but that did not solve the issue. I also deleted all the *.oab files in my Directory: C:Documents and SettingsUser ProfileLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlook: And restarted my Outlook and it seems to work but only for the issue to reappear again when Outlook is restarted. Any idea why Outlook is defaulting to this faulty?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Try deleting the user’s oab files then have him redownload.

Go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Delete all files with .oab

Outlook, send\receive download address book.

Also did you move this user to another new mailbox store? If so make sure the mailbox store has been set to use the default OAB.

Firstly make sure your Outlook clients are all up to date with the latest service packs, also make sure autodiscover service is working properly, hold in left control key then right click outlook icon in your taskbar and select test email auto configuration, run the tests and then re-post your results? Thanks

I've recently had this same issue. GAL in Outlook would not update, but looked correct in OWA and on my iPhone.I struggled for weeks, read every forum post I could find and nothing worked. GAL would not update to Outlook. This is what DID work for our system (Exchange 2010)1. Make sure the service "Microsoft Exchange System Attendant" is running. It does not seem to start automatically after reboot. This is a known issue. Start this service on the Exchange server manually.2. See which address lists the GAL references: Organization Configuration->Mailbox->Offline Address Book tab. Double-click the Default Global Address Book to view properties and select the Address Lists tab3. The trick is you need to "Apply" the changes from the listed address lists before the GAL will update the information in Outlook: Organization Configuration->Mailbox->Address Lists tab. Select each address list used by the GAL, right-click and click "Apply".4. Now that the System Attendant service is running your won't get an error when you try to update the GAL: Back on the Offline Address Book tab, select the GAL, right-click and "Update".It took several minutes to refresh for everybody, but the GAL in Outlook finally refreshed showing the current data. It did not require deleting .oab files or anything fancy on the client side. After a few send/receives in outlook, it updated for most everybody fairly quickly.I hope this info helps.
