FTP of a file has stopped working. File not growing like it should

We have a file that we FTP on a monthly basis to our I5. It is a positionally formatted file. In the past, we have had no problem with this, but late last year it stopped working. When we try to FTP the full file it gives us an FTP error of 426. The interesting thing is if I split the file in half and try to ftp one of the halves, it works. But the next time I try to FTP the next half, it fails with the same reason. I then cut that file in half and it works again. This cycle is repeated every time I FTP a file in, the next time I have to do half the size of the last file. I am bewildered to say the least.

You may need to change the size of the target file. Make sure it can hold all the data being sent.

I believe i have done that. The maximum members field is set to *nomax and the member size is set to *nomax as well.

Where is the source file located? Is this being FTP'd with a replace or append option? Has the file format changed recently. If you are sending this from another i-Series have you tried using a DDM file?

here is what IBM has to say LINK

The file is located in our cwmpdta library. No its not being FTP'd with a replace or append at least to my knowledge. I have cleared the physical file before i try to ftp it from my windows machine. The file format has not changed, its just a straight text file positionally formatted. I have checked the permissions and those should be fine. It acts like it runs out of space part of the way through the FTP transfer. But if i take the file that just failed, split it in half and send it in it works. Then if i try the second half it fails again so i repeat the process, break the part in half, the first half goes in fine, but then i have to break the next part in half again.

Sounds strange to say the least, can you post your FTP command?
I do not know if coming from a PC you may have a memory issue when trying to buffer the transfer. If you keep splitting the remaining portion of the file, how many times before the entire file is transferred.

The *USRPRF for the transfer might be hitting the 'maximum storage used' limit. Smaller pieces would all work fine.

What is the size of the file you are trying to FTP? You mentioned the max member was set to *NOMAX. What is the setting for the maximum record, number of increments and increment size?
