Forwarding DL in Outlook 2003 – problem

Microsoft Exchange
Microsoft Outlook
Microsoft Outlook 2003
If I use Outlook 2003 SP1 to forward a DL to another person on my Exchange server (2003 Ent no SP) also using Outlook 2003 SP1, they get it as a DL attachment and can open it and see members of the DL which they can then save to their Contacts. If I forward that same DL to myself at home (a road runner account) and open in Outlook 2003 SP1, it appears as a yellow envelope and contains nothing, yet shows 2 different file sizes for the attachment, one 746 bytes, the other 2K, yet there is only one attachment. When I open that attachment, it appears to be a forwarded message with no info in it. Yet, if i create a DL on my home machine and forward it to my Exchange account at work, it appears there as a DL which can be opened and saved to my Contacts. Any idea what is going on there?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

My first suggestion would be: check the settings at home for Outlook…does it allow attachments? Is it restricted to the type of attachment file? Is it set for not receiving html attachments?
This is a normal problem for any attachment within Outlook and Outlook Express. I am sure you will find that it is in the settings at home. Check to see what you have selected and what is not.

In dealing with this, I found a school system IT admin having the same problem, however, their problem was internal, exact same issue. I began to think it was a MIME issue when I realized I was seeing two file sizes for the attachment. He stopped all SurfControl internal mail filtering and it began to work. it was something in how the MIME attachment was being converted int eh filters. He checked with SurfControl and sure enough, they just released a Service Pack that fixes this very issue. I was just informed that he applied the service pack, and it indeed fixed this problem. Now I have to figure out how to tell Time Warner / Road Runner that they have something wrong on their end. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with a script-fed tech, he would not bump me to an actual email administrator, end of the call was that they had nothing wrong, that if the attachment was being removed it was not by them. Script-fed tech does not understand technical talk, too used to dealing with Mom and Pop issues like "how do I send an email" and had no desire to truly help me. I don't know that it is anything that would effect a plethora of users, but for those it does effect, a fix would be nice. Thanks for the replies I have gotten - hope this helps anyone else in future.
