Forced restart on Windows 10 laptop

Windows 10
Over the past year, my Lenovo laptop has been running Windows 10. It runs great and the SSD has roughly 50% left of space. This morning, it was in the process of running the weekly update but it's taking forever. It's been almost a hour and I don't know what to do. I think I'm going to do a forced restart. Is that a good idea? Thanks so much

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

WAIT.. The April Win10 update on my lap top took just over 2 hours start to finish with a couple of self- reboots. A hard restart may cause you more issues

No, wait for end of the process. If you restart the system, it may corrupt one or more system files. Just make sure at the time of update the system never gets hang. You cam press CAPIS lock/Num lock to make sure about that. If they on/off that the system runs the process.
