Flashing Upload to Cloud icon on notification bar?

I need help identifying a problem I've been having since I recently got a newer phone. Since I have a LG X Charge phone, I'm fairly certain it's also considered an andriod.

So the things is, there's this icon/ symbol that would randomly show up and disappear seconds later. Even flashing occasionally. It might be a "upload to cloud" icon; a cloud with an arrow pointing upwards.https://images.app.goo.gl/cdeLbivrBi4VT4F19 [Example]

I don't know what to do or what it means, I'm paranoid my phone is being spyed on. I'm not connected to any cloud as far as I know. My data provider is Sprint but I don't use their cloud either. Can someone explain or help me? I have found nothing so far to explain my situation.

Software/Hardware used:
Mobile Phone, LG X Charge, Android

Do you have your phone synced to any other devices? This may be why you are seeing that icon.

Most manufacturers add additional layers of software on top of Android, and many of them include different configuration options, which may include creating accounts on their servers to backup system settings and other similar things.

There could also be some application you installed (or was pre-installed by the manufacturer) which is configured to backup or sync data for different reasons.

I would start taking a deep look at all of the settings/configurations of the operating system, to see if something sounds like it could be sending data somewhere for some reason.

If that doesn't help, I would review the settings and permissions of all applications, one by one, to find the culprit.

A good example of what Carlos mentioned is this.A few games you may download from Google play or another site may back up your game progress so you won't lose your levels if you have to do a refresh of your device.

I've yet to find out what's exactly why it keeps appearing. I went to reboot my phone but made the mistake of switching to the backed up version and is still having this issue.

It is syncing something to the 'cloud', but we have no way to know what (nor which 'cloud') without examining your phone.

Provide a list of every app on your phone plus your phone's general configuration and settings, and we can see what stands out. Otherwise, contact your carrier's support group to see what they can tell you.

Looks like half a dozen apps could be doing cloud uploads. Safe&Found, e.g., could be uploading location data. Perhaps any of the various Google or Android apps could be uploading images, documents, whatever, to cloud backup -- the G.Drive app by itself might be involved regularly.

Configuration will depend on the specific phone and carrier as well as the various apps. Essentially, without seeing all the settings you have in your phone, we can't tell what settings you have available. In short, we need to examine your phone or have a copy of every setting.

I agree with Raven. Without having the phone in front of us and going through the settings for each app, we can only guess. I know some  apps from the Google play store will save to the cloud. This way you can recover your progress if you have to factory refresh your device.  You even have a few apps with cloud in the name, like Soundcloud and Cloud Print.  You could try removing the apps you do not use and see if the issue goes away. A word of caution, when downloading new apps, pay attention to the permissions it is asking for. Me personally if I want a game and it is asking for access to my photos, contacts or something else they have no business in, I will not his accept and look for something else. Once you grant access to the app who knows what they will do with the access you just gave them.

As you mentioned the phone is new. That means, there is not much stuffs on your phone. It is better to take backup of your contacts/ images/ videos or clippings/ other files etc to your laptop or other media. Then go for Reset. It helps to rebuild the system & helps to overcome this issue. But be careful, take backup first.

One more thing, as the phone is very new, it is better to get help from the manufacturer's authorized service center. Please take a look here for LG support, https://www.lg.com/us/support/telephone
