Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Firmware is software that is loaded onto the hardware components of your router. All firmware updates should be downloaded through the manufacture of your router and saved to your computer. With most network routers the firmware update will end with .bin and should be saved to a place that will be easy to remember, such as your desktop.

After the file has been downloaded open your router setup and locate the firmware upgrade section. The picture shows an example of the Firmware Upgrade section under Administration on a Linksys network router.
Point the firmware upgrade section to the firmware file you downloaded earlier and start the upgrade. As should be mentioned on the firmware upgrade page it is important that the firmware upgrade is not interrupted, interrupting any firmware update will prevent that device from working.

It can be done, but you have to gain admin rights to do the same. If you are not comfortable or do not have admin rights, you can not do that. It is better toask your sys admin/ network admin person to do that. However, you did not mention what type of or model/ manufacturer name of router. The process can differ slightly from model to model or manufacturer. Please come back with more details.

Find the company that manufactured the router, look up the router type and see if there is an firmware upgrade. If so, go into the menu of the router and you should have an upgrade or look for upgrade of firmware. Just press it and let the router do its thing.  Make sure that you do not lose power during this time as, when that occurs, the product is normally made useless as the firmware has crashed.
