Fire TV Stick internet connection issues

Internet connection
I purchased a fire TV stick from amazon and I worked perfectly for a couple of weeks and then all of a sudden my movies started buffering and failing to connect. I would go to network settings and it would say wifi is connected very strong but internet is unavailable. I have the router and modem in the same room and I have no other issues with any other device. The connection will work for 15 min and cut out and I will have to restart the fire tv in order to connect to the wifi again.

Make sure that your router and Fire Stick device are running the latest software version. Have you used HDMI extender that should have come with Fire Stick?

Some ISP will throttle your bandwith if you stream a lot. They are not supposed to but that have been known to do so. It may also be to heavy network usage in you area.  Who is your ISP and what is your download speed? You may also have these issues if you are download a 4K movie versus a regular format movie.

Download speed is like over 100 mega bits, I’m with Rogers and this happens when I am the only one on the internet. And I have no 4K movies. The connection runs great but at least once every 30 min it drops the internet connection but not the wifi connection.

Talk to your ISP and see if they can run a line test. I had issues with my old ISP and there was a signal issue outside my house on the pole that was causing the problem.

I will do what you said, but is it possible that a line problem could only affect one device tho? It just weird that only the fire TV has this issue.

When this happens is the TV the only device using the internet or is it sharing bandwidth with other devices at the same time ?

It could also be the site you are uploading or streaming from. Even with my Xfinity/Comcast I sometimes getting buffering issues with Netflix movies. This is even using the built in app for Netflix on the cable box. Another issue we just recently started having is the programs we have set to record on the DVR will fail randomly.. No explanation just an error saying it did not record and if there is an on demand version it will give you the option to play that. The problem with those is you cannot fast forward thru the commercials.
