I've been on Windows 7 for the past couple of years and I noticed that I'm starting to run out of space on the C drive / partition. So I want to delete some files from my programs and folders. But I don't want to delete anything important by accident. How can I see when a file was last used or accessed. That's how I'm going to determine if I should delete a file.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.
Go to file explorer, select the drive and folder. Open the folder and you can see the file information. You may need to right-click on the headings and select more to add the ones you want for clean up purposes.

As the system belongs to you, everything must have your knowledge. Which files/folders/programs will be deleted, that must you know first and full of aware. If you delete software, you must keep their backups/setup files (hope they are all on either CD/DVD or flash drive). Then you can delete unused/unnecessary programs/software. Now files/folders, you must keep all backups of your files/ folders and then you can delete the unnecessary files/folders which are no longer to be used. For more information, you can check file's properties.
