If you can’t access the router’s web-based setup page or forgot the router’s password, you may reset the router to its default factory settings.  To do this, press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds.

Google your router model, and in the manual you will find the default username and password for it

then you can change it or change Wi-Fi password. (these are two separate passwords)

Note: changing the router password is not bad because nobody will have access to it, but you need to keep it safe somewhere, otherwise you will not be able to connect to it anymore and you need to reset it to the default factory setting.

if you are going to do it try to follow security rules for the password.

There should be a small button on the back of your router - you may need a pin/pen/paper clip or other small object to fit in the opening to push the button (hold in for a few seconds), which will reset the router to factory defaults. Then you can Google the model to find out the default name & password, or check this link HERE . Open a web browser and go to:, and you should be able to log in with the username & password you found for your model - and set the password to something you can remember. Good luck!

If you just purchased the router, normally the password is blank and the logon name is usually admin. If you did not receive a booklet with the router, then just go online and download it from the company that manufactured it.

Now, if you are trying to gain access to a router illegally, then you need to go to another site for that. We do not assist in illegal hacking of systems.

If this is a new router, it is sometimes set to a default and found on the bottom of the device. If not you can usually hook up a cable to the router and follow the instruction in the manual to reset it.
