So I'm a big-time gamer and I have a general question. For gaming purposes, should I go ahead and buy an external SSD or HDD? What would be the best option for me? Thanks so much.

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

SSD drives are faster than standard HDD. You will lose some of the
benefits due to the drives being external though. They will only be as
fast as your USB port transfer rates allow. Unless you have a USB 3.0 or better, I’d look
to see if the second drive can be internally mounted.

It depends on what types of games are there. Generally, SSD is faster than HDD, but for longevity you can go for HDD although their performance is bound to degrade as time goes on. SSD is costly depends on your budget so goes the capacity that you can buy.

Does it need to be external? I would go internal as they're much faster.
