In copying pdf files to a flash drive, when I move them to another computer they show up as exe files so they cannot be used in the graphics program on the destination computer.  Is it me or the equipment?  Original computer is Windows 7, target computer is XP

How are you copying the files? Are you using windows explorer or do you have a batch application?

Are you certain the extension is being changed to 'exe', or are you assuming that because the icon changes when viewed on the target machine?

If the latter, it could be caused by the file associations on the target computer.

If you are sure they are PDF, try renaming them on the new machine and see if they open as expected. Like Carlos said, I too think the file association may be off on the target system.

It seems to be like malware affected in flash drive which can also make this type of changes with extension check to that.
