I've had a request that I never really thought I'd get, so no thought was given to it during planning. I've been asked to look into serving out Intranet anonymously, not to the whole world, but suppliers we work with.
They're going to be accessing it from iPads, and what I've been asked to do is make it work straight after they have VPN'd in, no Windows credentials involved. So I'd read about extending web apps before, so I gave that a try extending it to port 81, but it seems to completely ignore host headers, and always serves the root web app site (which in our case isn't used), whichever host header site collection you try.
I've added bindings to the extended web site, but still no joy. Can anyone tell me if there's something I'm not doing right (likely), or if I am flogging a dead horse and it can't be done?
