Expanded Virtual desktop

Virtual display
Hello. Long time ago I used compiz fusion on Linux with multiple desktops.
There were different method to migrate from current desktop to the next one such as soon ding or cube rotation. I'm just thinking is ther anything that makes it possible to have one large virtual desktop larger than the original monitor but be able to move incrementaly from an area to another by mouse or .... To make better sense I say that in another word: for example your monitor is 1980 to 1280 pixel but your virtual desktop is r1*1980 to r2*1280 then you have a text editor in one are and a video in another area with an b overlap, for being able to look at the other one you don't switch completely from one desktop to another but slowly you can partially move from one area to another similar to when we drag a location of a non maximized application by mouse drag and drop in normal condition.
Thanks. I'm waiting for an answer. Have a good time
Bye
