I have server 2003 and exchange 2003 running. I have a user that requires pop3 for mail. When I reboot the server, I get a warning that ?
An error occurred while starting the Microsoft Exchange POP3 Service: server instance number 1 failed to start with error 0x80040a01
When checking the services, it shows the service is running. But if I go into Exchange System Manager, and check the Protocols running, the pop 3 shows as not running.
I can select it and tell it to start and it has no problem starting up at this point. Any ideas on why it won?t start on its own?
Do you have any event ID's matching up to the error? A quick Google shows refererneces to system attendent, but none to POP3 services. I've not had this happen to me, so I can't offer any assistance off the top of my head. However, you might want to up the diagnostics logging on the POP3 service.
