I have a problem (Excel 2003) where on my sheet I type a number and when I click off the cell or use the arrow keys the whole thing just crashes. No error messages or anything. It's just really annoying. What do I do to resolve this problem? I can't copy and paste all info onto a new sheet with put it looking completely different and having the same problem where I cannot type numbers without it crashing?

Thanks. We'll let you know when a new response is added.

Beside what Subhendu mentioned is this a file you created or are just trying to modify? It may be the file itself is damaged or protected. If possible try opening and changing the file on another computer if you have that capability to see if it has the same problem. This will tell you if it’s the file or your computer.

If the file still won’t work the way you expect, run the repair on the file as detailed in this Microsoft Repair Link.
IF the repair does not work you can try this recovery process.
Lastly, you can repair Excel itself by following this Microsoft Link

Some information is missing. What OS version is there like Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10. Is the OS updated with latest ones. Also the MS Office version is old. Whatever it is, first of all check your system and make sure there is no virus activity. If there already one is installed, make sure it is updated. If not, or if the installed antivirus is too old, you can try to scan/clean with MWAV. This is free to use and you can download and run the same while installation is not necessary. Also you can open MS Word and type something, if that same happens? Please check.

Yes, Repairing is really helpful, else you can also try to run Excel in Safe mode. Try this, close Excel completely. Now press & hold the CTRL key. While pressing the key, click Start > Programs or All Programs > Microsoft Office > Microsoft Excel. Keep in mind do not release the CTRL key. There is a prompt, asking whether you want to start Excel in Safe Mode, just release the CTRL key & click 'Yes'. Now try to type something, and check if that helps. Also if there are Add-ins for Excel, try to disable them (while opening Excel, click Tools > Add-ins & remove the check marks from all third party add-ins.).
