I understand that the Ethernet frame is made of several parts, the Preamble, the Recipients MAC address, the Senders MAC address, the Type of data, the Data itself, the Pad and the FCS.
When a Node sends out an Ethernet Frame on a network does the process simply stop at the Preamble and the Recipient MAC addresses as a checkpoint before accepting or dropping the frame, or do the nodes read/process the entire frame from the Preamble straight to the FCS and then drops the frame if its not addressed to the corresponding node?
